About Us
Hidden Island Elk Ranch is situated on the northern prairies of North Dakota. Our family has farmed and ranched on the property for several generations. Hidden Island Elk Ranch is also the home of Brian Lawler’s Registered Shorthorn cattle herd. He uses his experience in maintaining genetic pedigree with the Shorthorn herd in developing superior genetics of the Elk Herd.
Brian always enjoys working with the elk and often claims that they are the most interesting animal he has ever worked with. Even though the herd is kept in a large fenced pasture, they maintain a lot of the characteristics of Wild North American Elk.
Brian also jokes, “Working with the herd is better for my health than anything else I’ve ever done because I enjoy it so much. Everyone else gets to benefit from the quality meat and products, but I just like the animals.”
